There is a lot to love about Winchester. North of Boston’s downtown district you will find it, a suburb which is noted as being what is called a bedroom community for professionals working in and around the Greater Boston area. A bedroom community is predominately residential one, rather than being commercial or industrial, as most residents work elsewhere.
One of the things Winchester is most famous for is undoubtedly the numerous major rivers and bodies of water it is home to. These include the Aberjona River, Winter Pond, Wedge Pond, Mystic Lakes, and the smaller, Sachem Swamp and Sucker Brook.
Known for their generally liberal attitude, a large percentage of the residents of Winchester are families and it has a very dense suburban feel with lots of city parks and coffee shops to while away the hours when you are not hard at work in the bigger cities of Massachusetts.
