    Worcester Real Estate

Located in Central Massachusetts, the city of Worcester takes its name from the city of the same name in England, and with a population of more than 180,000 is second only to Boston in terms of size. Worcester has a rich history dating back to the latter part of the 17th century, and having been abandoned and resettled twice is now a thriving centre for medical research and biotechnology.
Situated some 40 miles from Boston, the state capital, Worcester is known as the ‘Heart of the Commonwealth’ and features a heart as its official symbol. This is particularly fitting as it was in Worcester that the very first mass-produced Valentine’s Day cards were made. Worcester is known for its many teaching and research hospitals that attract students from across the world and is home to excellent schools and colleges.
Occupying around 38 square miles of land, the city is also the place where the world-famous yellow smiley face was first introduced by artist Harvey Ball in 1963. The Downtown area has recently been subject to many major renovation projects, and today the city ranks as among the top 10 cities in the US for tech start up companies. With excellent employment prospects and fine facilities Worcester is a popular city in which to live.
